Valencia 2-2 Mallorca
Liga BBVA - Mestalla
Title contenders Valencia were left stunned as Mallorca completed a dramatic comeback to salvage a point from a tie that was all but over.
Valencia were in control of the game from kick off. The first chance coming in the 10th minute as David Silva whipped in a corner presenting Mata with a golden chance, a superb save from Moya denying him. Valencia and Mata in particular continued to pressure Mallorca, a freekick in the 22nd minute skimming the top of the crossbar.
Mallorca found their chances in front of goal few and far between. When Keita did manage to break free down the right wing his incisive cross was spurned by Aduriz who failed to hit the ball with any conviction forcing an easy save from Renan.
Moya continued to impress in goal for Mallorca denying Mata just before half time with an impressive double save. Valencia were piling the pressure on Mallorca but their defence refused to buckle.
At the start of the second half Valencia manager Unai Emery, decided to introduce Philippe Toledo into the game, it was a decision he would not regret. Within six minutes Toledo found himself unmarked and on the end of a jinxing run and cross by Joaquin. Finally Valencia had the break through they deserved.
They continued to put pressure on the Mallorca defence as they had done all game. Their persistence being rewarded as Albiol got on the end of an outswinging corner from Silva. Corrales did all he could to keep the ball out of the net but ended up forcing it over the line.
With Valencia 2-0 up in the 73rd minute they began to sit back assured that the result was definitive. Mallorca had other ideas. Webo receiving the ball out wide, he used his pace to beat Del Horno, reaching the byline before fizzing in a dangerous cross. Ochirosii merely had to guide it past Renan as Mallorca scored a vital goal.
Valencia tried to once again take control of the game but the momentum was with Mallorca and in particular Webo. His pace late on in the game was causing Del Horno all sorts of problems. He once again found himself on the wing one on one with Del Horno after some neat build up play from Aduriz. Webo showed Del Horno a clean set of heels and raced into the penalty box firing a venomous shot past Renan who was well and truly beaten.
The Mestalla fell silent as fans could not believe what they were seeing. Mallorca fans meanwhile celebrated the draw as if it was a victory.

Cannot believe you chucked away in the last twelve minutes man, that is utter gutting :(
Very good review though.
Did you change your tactics towards the end, is this why you collapsed or was it just plain bad luck?
